as the year nears it's end i've thought about the fact that this is the end of the first decade of the new millennium. because i love making lists of any sort, i've decided to painstakingly go through my entire music collection and bring you some sort of "ryan's 100 favorite albums of the past 10 years" type thing. what i soon realized was that favorite is very difficult to define. therefore, i have instead compiled a top 100 list that is a collective of the 100 most important albums of the past 10 years to me. these are albums that i love, albums that influenced me, albums that helped shape me in some way, as a listener, a musician or just as a human being. it was actually hard just getting it down to a hundred and if any of you follow my taste in music (it's tricky, i know) you might notice certain things being absent. with each selection i will include a brief explanation of why it made the list and how it's important to me. to save you guys the trouble of reading (and myself the trouble of writing) 100 paragraphs all at once, i'm going to do it 5 at a time over the next few weeks.
